Does anyone still eat these god awful things? Infact, are they even still in the shops?
My old Nan use to like eating them over the festive season. Mind you, she liked beetroot as well!

As Sydney said, I’ve had good dates in the Middle East but not outside it.

I quite like them, and the ones i had in Dubai were fantastic, a clear cut above to the ones we get in Oz or the UK.
I like beetroot as well, fresh and picked, its one of the nicer Vegetables.
What the fuck is wrong with you teacoffeeteacoffee?

It's an age thing with dates and pickles.When I was a kid we ate what was going or went hungry.
My kids who arn't all really young get through bottles of tomato sauce I hate the stuff.
None of them have ever tried anything pickled or preserved apart from jam.They think it's old peoples fodder.they don't know what there missing.
The Boxing Day lunch is the best grub of the year,cold cuts
with bubble(plenty of leftover sprouts) and pickles can't be bettered

I've done the exact same thing with pickled beetroot pissed up.
Went out the lash followed through in the pit,My missus thought I was seriously ill and was going to take me to A & E until she clocked an empty jar of baby beetroot.Nearly got away with it.

I'm a right oinker when I've had a beer and raid the cupboard for shit to eat when I get home. I rarely remember eating it until I see the mess I've made of the kitchen in the morning.
One night lagging drunk I ate a whole jar of pickled beetroot and completely forgot.
Sat down for a poo the next morning, wiped my arse and there was a bright red patch on the bog-roll. Looked into the pan and had a PROPER panic. I honestly thought I'd shat my insides out!

Branded has it right, Middle East Kuwait, Saudi probably best. Or go in to Harrods food hall expensive but superb. Beetroot is the devils food and has you pissing blood, but still partial to some in my potato salad.
